TIMING IS EVERYTHING

I just returned from a week at the beach and I'm crushed. Not sure if I'm coming down with something but I feel like a bus ran over me. Still, as I lay here exhausted, I feel so grateful to My Savior. It just occurred to me I have been overwhelmed the past few months. I'd been looking at my list of things to do, feeling paralyzed and unable to accomplish anything. While I've been focused on Christ, I forgot how He has the ability to swoop in and take care of everything, "accomplishing more than we can ask or imagine." Eph 3:20 and that "He who started a good thing in us will see it through to completion" Phil 1:6.

I've spent the last year and a half pursuing networks to air my show. Doors never opened and all the while I felt confident that I needed to persevere. While I didn't feel like I was getting anywhere professionally, The Lord continued to mold me, surrounding me with women of faith, who allowed me to share what God has done in my life and learn to speak boldly about my Creator, Perfecter & Redeemer. While chiseling away at all my insecurities, He helped me clarify my purpose to bring Light into people's lives and He worked on my mountain of fear with countless reminders not to worry about anything and instead pray about everything - Phil 4:6-7 until that mountain became just a hill and hopefully one day, will be a valley;)

He helped me not to focus on what everyone else is doing and instead to focus on Him, the Potter, who has taken all of my broken pieces and turned them into His masterpiece, creating me "anew in Christ Jesus, so I can do the good things he planned for me long ago." Eph 2:10

Then, just as He has given us His Holy Spirit to dwell within us and help us, He provided me with a helper - a finisher! I have the ability to start a million projects but few are ever completed. Recently I listened to a seminar by Jack Cantfield, most famously know as the author of his 'Chicken Soup For The Soul' books. Years ago I had purchased one for my Mom and I felt a connection with him as I watched the video that was filmed at his home in Santa Barbara, where my brother lives. One day a friend of mine was over at my house and brought up the book, "The Power of Focus." Interestingly enough, I felt like I had seen that book staring at me from our shelf in the bedroom. As I ran to check my sweetheart's shelf, there it was! I had glanced at it a hundred times and now I finally pulled it off the shelf and realized it was written by Jack Canfield. I decided to dive in that evening and I packed it for the beach. One of the first great lessons was to find your finisher and it was no coincidence that staying with us at our beach house was a girl I met almost a year ago. I was at the park with my kids and admired the outfit of this adorable little girl who was playing with my child. It was the beginning of fall and she was wearing a yellow sweater with a red hat. Her style reminded me of my Aunt who was from San Francisco. I was wishing I had my camera to take a picture when her Mom came over and sat down next to me. Our conversation was captivating - she was a photographer, had been living in San Francisco, had kids similar in age to mine and shared my laughter about how it's rare to find time to shower with a newborn and how putting powder in your hair is a way of life so you can at least leave the house;)

We decided to meet again and walk the lake so we could shed some baby weight. It was then that I shared with her the projects I'd been working on and she told me she had gone to school for editing! I often pray that God guides me to the people He wants me to work with and here before me was someone to help me complete the projects I had started!! As we continued to walk, I shared with her about how I've found countless 4 leaf clovers since my Mom passed away and she told me how the day she met me, she went home, walked outside her house and found 2 four leaf clovers. My Mom used to always tell me, "you should get that girl's number, she seemed nice" whenever we were out and met someone with whom I'd be friends. And now, it was if my Mom was still encouraging my relationships. What's funny is that as I've gotten to know Jamie the handful of times we've hung out this year, she has the same infectious laughter that my Mom's best friend had and enjoys the same creativity that the two of them shared.

When we planned our family trip to the beach this year, I texted my dear friends that I never see and invited them to come. None of them could make it and I found myself blurting out an invite to Jamie at her barb-b-q shortly before our trip. She was in and not only did we have a great time together, she told me that she's a finisher! She's organized and loves to get things done!!

That news couldn't have come at a better time. Even though I've learned that God always provides, (Matt 6:26-27) it was the perfect reminder at the perfect time. God does always do everything "at just the right time" (Romans 5:6) ...His Time.

What is it time for you to do?
