Since I'm currently 8 months pregnant, I thought I should finally tackle potty training my two year old son so I can avoid having two kids in diapers. Ever the procrastinator, I'm telling you this to hold myself accountable. My son was ready nine months ago, when he insisted on using the potty and to my surprise, completed the task;) Me, I wasn't quite ready to tackle the chore! Thinking back on the situation, if I had finished the job back then, we'd be fully potty trained by now. It makes me wonder what else I've been putting off, thinking I have all the time in the world. This summer, the first love of my life was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident. He left behind three small children and I can't help but wonder what he had planned as a parent, that he never had the opportunity to fulfill. The news of his death, hit me harder than the loss of my own Mom. She had been on a heart transplant list. So, probably somewhere in the back of my mind, I had prepared myself for the day when I was no longer able to pick up the phone and hear her voice. Maybe it was the fact that I was pregnant and hormonal, maybe it was that he was my age, maybe it was seeing the news reports with the vivid photos, the beautiful faces of his precious children that played in my mind or simply proof of the amazing friend he had remained over the years, but I sat on my kitchen floor in tears, for days, not wanting to believe it was true. All those dreams I have for things I want to do with my own children... am I doing them or just thinking that one day, we'll have the time. None of us are promised tomorrow. In a second's notice, everything we know can change. So, let the fun begin! Don't let another day pass before you've spent time with your little ones, tickling them 'till their smiles are all you can see in your mind, long after they've gone to bed for the day. Create those memories that you've wanted to do TODAY! START NOW and tomorrow, you'll be glad you did. What are you going to do today? I'll start Tweeting pictures of our fun to give you inspiration and please share yours by tagging us at @MomHandbook so we can all have creative new ideas:)
